Abstract

The article examines the history of the study of burnout: from phenomenon to syndrome. The authors identify four main interdisciplinary approaches used today in the study of burnout syndrome: an individual approach, an interpersonal approach, an organizational approach,
and a social approach. The factor that largely limits the development of the problem of burnout is interdisciplinary disunity, and different approaches to the problem of burnout are not mutually exclusive. The criterion for choosing one or another approach is due to the
availability of resources, personnel and the scale of the task. In view of this, the authors consider it possible to identify three promising areas for the development of prevention of burnout syndrome: culture of well-being (social approach), improvement of the work process (organizational
approach) and personal resilience (individual approach).
